This is a great observation, Jason! In the hunt for improvements, client requests and desire to build a better product than the competition, we often end up with extra stuff. And once we build them it is often hard to let them go.

Your piece gave me a thought — perhaps features that are not crucial to the usability of the product can be decoupled into separate services or smaller apps (something that happens in the mobile world)… Just a thought :)
