It REALLY bothers me that so many amazing people with great ideas, great messages and great products or services are not getting enough or ANY traction (sidebar: it’s the primary reason why I launched the Never Settle Talk Show, ok back to article now)

We live in an awesome time where we have more tools at our disposal than ever before but challenging times because everyone is using them. That creates a very cluttered environment. I’m hopeful that my story can help you uncover a next step to stand out and gain momentum.

There are 2 main reasons for this:

  1. You haven’t built a community!
  2. 2. You haven’t captured attention!

If you can do either one of those you can gain some momentum and push toward the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you are really serious about your dream, your career promotion, your startup, a job interview, your side hustle — IT’S CRITICAL THAT YOU IDENTIFY WAYS TO AUTHENTICALLY STAND OUT FROM THE COMPETITION!

For that interview OUT RESEARCH the company more than any other candidate, for that career promotion don’t send an email or verbally pitch NO, NO, NO — that’s what everyone else is doing! Instead create a killer presentation that proves WHY! For that side hustle, stop looking at the competition it’s slowing you down, focus on your MOST UNIQUE ASSET & market the hell out of that in different ways.

I don’t preach about strategies and tactics I haven’t gained success from.

I LIVE IT, then SHARE IT!

THE OPPORTUNITY: I had to speak at a major event in NYC where my presentation was all about getting the attendees to want to talk to me afterward about possible opportunities I need to expand the show.

THE CHALLENGE: Several other speakers delivering their talk want the same outcome. But I want AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE! I need to fill the top of my funnel with the most qualified possible leads.

THE TACTIC:

  1. Deliver an incredible talk (without that the next 2 tips don’t matter)
  2. Wear something VERY identifiable to be easily noticed in a crowd (my blue glasses and hot neon pink shoes)
  3. At big critical moments — HAVE PROPS! The more unique, the better. Maybe you’re not quite ready to Lady Gaga yourself for the moment but find something that makes you feel a tad uncomfortable!

MY SOLUTION: Authentically use my Emmy Award during my talk and carry it as a prop throughout the networking afterwards.

OUTCOME: A+ The talk received great reviews and the Emmy & pink shoes were magnets! A complete hit! People easily found me & wanted to talk! They took more selfies w/me that day (while holding the Emmy) more than any other day and I got more cards than any other speaker! I was there later than any other speaker AND a side benefit of all those selfies is that I’m now also IN THEIR camera roll!

How easy will they remember me when I make that followup call or send that email???

EMBRACE UNCOMFORTABLENESS & GO STAND OUT!

I sincerely hope this helped you in some tangible way! Wishing you the best outcomes possible!

If you like what I write (or not) let me know why in comments and it would mean a lot to me if you clicked the heart or shared this out!
