Solid list! Something I figured out recently that helped a ton was to create a Game Design Document (or any type of thorough design documentation really). It’s important to design the game as thoroughly as possible and get the ideas down on paper before starting any kind of work. It really helped me differentiate what’s necessary and what’s a waste of time. Not only that, I found that just sitting down with a vague idea of a game and a GDD template was enough to cause an ocean of ideas to flood from my mind. I guess just an effect of separating the design from the manufacturing.
