This story will motivate you to publish a Blog post regularly!
by Marius Schober
Have you ever wondered if it makes sense to continue with your blogging efforts? Were you ever unmotivated to continue writing your blog posts regularly because you didn’t see the feedback you want? Then read what happened to me at a startup conference in Berlin a few weeks ago.
A short side note: I live in Düsseldorf and my professional network in Berlin was very limited at that time.
How I met a reader of my blog in Berlin
In the last 300 days, I roughly published around 4 blog articles. But around 4 days prior to the conference in Berlin, I started to blog regularly. Each morning before I started with my regular daily routine I dedicated around 60–90 minutes to writing a blog article and so did I. During the startup event I met several very interesting people but then something unexpectedly happened:
Me: “Hey my name is Marius Schober nice to meet you!”
XX: “Marius Schober? I know you don’t I?”
Me: “No I don’t think we ever met.”
XX: “Are you from Berlin?”
Me: “No, I am from Düsseldorf so it’s even more unlikely that we know each other.”
XX: “Mhm okay…”
XX: “Do you write a blog?”
Me: “Yes I just started to blog regularly on some platforms.”
XX: “Also on Medium?”
Me: “Yes! I post my stories on LinkedIn, MEDIUM, and my personal blog.”
XX: “Now I remember you! I read and loved one of your articles.”
Me: “Wow really???”
Faster than I was able to react he pulled out his smartphone and showed me in his medium app that he indeed read and loved my article “From a Joke in Silicon Valley to $25.5 Billion” where I describe the visionary strategy formulation process of successful entrepreneurs and startups.
Wow, this was mind-blowing!
A random guy in Berlin read and loved my medium story and he even followed me. A few weeks later I met this guy at a conference in Berlin. How unlikely is that? That’s what I call luck isn’t it? It was definitely extremely motivating as I had roughly 40–50 reads at that time and not more than 3 “hearts” on this specific article.
Think about your Possibilities

Just imagine that one of the roughly 50 reads you get with every story there is one guy who is leading the venture capital company you want to contact in the near future. Just imagine if one of the 50 people who read your story one guy is the editor in chief of the NY Times you intend to contact tomorrow. Just imagine if one of the 50 people who read your story one guy is a purchaser of a big global company and thanks to your article he discovers your great startup company.
Post qualitative Content
The point of the story: Never be disappointed if you only get a few reads on your articles. You never know who is reading your story. Keep publishing content daily and one day you will feel the effects of the compound effect. Make yourself a name in this loud world and keep publishing!
By the way: Publishing is what I will also continue doing from now on every one or two days. Make sure to follow me so you will never miss another great, exciting, or informative article!
