A Walk In San Fransisco

I took an afternoon flight into San Fransisco
Put on a gray pair of brand new shoes
I walked until my feet blistered
Ended up ditching the shoes for 9 band aids

I got into a car with a kind stranger
We giggled saying that we both normally don’t do this
As I sat down, I was licked by a giant blue Weimaraner
I appreciated the 30 seconds of raw human connection
And we didn’t know each other’s names

She dropped me off at the local convenience store
I saw a lady with a Jesus tattoo roll her eyes at a cashier for taking too long
After 15 minutes of waiting, I bought a pair of neon blue socks

I ate a late night Italian dinner alone
Sitting outside on a chilly evening on Laurel Street
And sipping on a glass of red wine
I tasted the world’s best gnocchi

I made friends with the uber driver
And we talked about death and Shakespeare
He worked as a prison guard by day and cared for his mother in the early evenings

He had a beautiful soul

I fell asleep in a new city on a white hotel bed
with a full heart and a full belly
