#Art Fair 2017
The 5th edition of Art Fair Philippines took place last February 16–19. This event showcased more than 40 different exhibitors/ private galleries. This event aims encouraged possible buyers of their art work and other people to appreciate and use it for educational purposes.
As our midterm exam we were encouraged to visit the Art Fair and amazing stuffs was seen by my eyes and felt by my heart when I arrived in that place together with my friends.
One of the gallery that is featured in the Art Fair 2017 that I choose for this activity is the Art Gallery of Ronald Ventura
Remnants of journey 2016 Fiberglass, resin, polyurethane paint dimensions variable.
For me the message that this art work portray is about how a journey can be victorious yet full of tragedy and pain. Pegasus is associated with victory however it can be seen in the art work that the Pegasus statue is ruined because of all the journey his been through.

This art work made me remember one of the character of the movie that I’ve watched when I was a kid (I’ve forgot the title). It’s a cat from the upper part but it has a fang that can be seen in horror films. For me it symbolizes how a sweet cat can turn into a beast once there is a threat or when someone he loves is in danger.

This is one of my favorite artwork in Art Fair 2017 because of its design and changing lights that is catchy to the eyes and gives me a Fairy tail mood.

Two Special Galleries that I choose are the gallery of Agness Arellano and Jose Terence Ruiz.
This statue is the first thing that I saw when I open the curtain and I was trying not to laugh when I saw her breast because of the post that I have read before about a guy complaining that his girlfriend is flat chested. I can say that that guy who complained need this statue for him to be contented. >____<
This statue was Inanna was the Sumerian goddess of love, beauty, sexual desire, fertility etc. And I think that her six breast portrays an important part why she became a goddess of fertility because people want to believe a God who can give them their needs and with the goddess body the people believed that this goddess will answer their prayers. My reaction in the photo means “What on Earth have happened that she has six large breast and ALL VISITORS LOOK AT HER LIKE A N INNOCENT BABY.”
This statue is Kali the goddess of time, death and destruction. It symbolizes that she is the one that holds the time when your death will be. The axe and the head that she holds shows that she is really the goddess of death. Some will fear her being the goddess of death while others will be attracted to the beauty she posses as an artwork
This work of art is dakini a “sky dancer”. She is a Tantric priestess of ancient India who “carried the souls of the dead to the sky”. Along with those artworks this is second to the simplest yet still catchy to the eyes.
This artwork is Magdaline. She is the most beloved disciple of Christ. This is the simplest among the four statue. I think it symbolizes the simplicity that a woman should posses and show to other people.
For me the message that this art works convey is the beauty and art of the chairs used to end someones life. The chairs posits negative impression for me since it is used to kill someone who have done an act or acts that deviates to the norms of that society he or she belongs however the chairs attracts the visitors of this gallery to sit and took a photo of themselves. Most of the visitors are amazed by the unique designs of all the chairs and it can be seen in the post of my fellow classmates (Naomi Geronimo and Joshua de Leon) in their Facebook account.
All in all the Art Fair 2017 was really a blast because it showcased a lot of art works that we should be proud of. All the galleries showed different art works that surely satisfied the eyes of everyone that will look into it.
The local contemporary Philippine art scene for me was beautiful and it posses different elements that was new to me.
Compare to our previous tour in the National Museum I can say that Art Fair 2017 is more interactive type of showcasing different art forms. It’s because all the galleries encouraged the viewers to took a picture and other art works in some galleries can be touched unlike in National museum that the rules are strict and most of the guards have frowning faces. But I have also enjoyed both the tour in National Museum and Art Fair because of all the art works that are worth of my time and effort.

This gallery is also one of the special features of the Art Fair. At first I was attracted by the military like forms of the different artworks. There are many people that was also attracted in this gallery and they took pictures as a proof that they have appreciated the artwork in this gallery.
Don Papa is a gallery that I’ve entered and I saw that there’s a lot of paintings and liquor that are showcased inside this gallery. The paintings attracts the visitors to see the message of each paintings.
Galerie Stephanie is one of the galleries that I’ve observe that most people visit maybe because of the beautiful design it has (which really attracted me because it is like a flower on the wall) or the art works that is showcased in this gallery.
Kaida Contemporary is a unique gallery because of the different mechanical art work that it posses. I really loved the rooster and bulldog (the bulldog reminds me of the best friend in high school who looks like a bulldog hahaha).
Salcedo Private View was one of a kind because of the elegant art works that was all made of glass and has a unique design inside. When I first saw this I was amazed because I wonder how the artist put together such delicate piece inside a glass.
This is my favorite gallery because I am an avid fan of Encantadia and the art works in this gallery was like the “Brilliante” that the sangre have. It is awesome that I’ve experienced to hold one of the “Brilliante”.
