SG 1000: An Extraordinary Solution to the Extraordinary Situation of 38 Oxley Road

Deputy Prime Minister Shanmugaratnam:

While Lee Wei Ling and Lee Hsien Yang wish to demolish 38 Oxley Road to honor Lee Kuan Yew’s will, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong wishes to preserve 38 Oxley Road for national need, i.e. national heritage, to honor Lee Kuan Yew’s memory and legacy.

While the desired actions for 38 Oxley Road of demolition versus preservation conflict, the goals of (a) honoring Lee Kuan Yew’s will, and (b) honoring his memory and legacy do not conflict, and can be united.

Instead of looking back (e.g. heritage) to honor Lee Kuan Yew, looking forward (e.g. growth) is a superior approach to honor his memory and legacy to Singapore.

Resolving the extraordinary situation of 38 Oxley Road is best accomplished through an extraordinary forward-looking solution, SG 1000, to sustain Singapore’s growth for a millennium.

Honor Lee Kuan Yew with A Idea that Grows Singapore for a Millennium

Infrastructure: (Ozymandias)

The late Lee Kuan Yew eschewed being memorialized by physical infrastructures, including structures such as 38 Oxley Road. Such memorials look backwards to the past.

Institution: Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy

He did accept the honor of having an educational institution named after him: the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

Idea that Honors Lee Kuan Yew by Growing Singapore for a Millennium — SG 1000

The late Lee Kuan Yew might be very receptive towards having a creativity and innovation idea, SG 1000, (which can be viewed as reflecting his name in his honor and memory) that grows Singapore for a millennium.

SG 1000 Research Proposal that Honors Lee Kuan Yew by Growing Singapore for a Millennium

While the late Lee Kuan Yew laid a foundation for Singapore that has lasted at least 50 years, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong can jumpstart a mathematics-driven basis (SG1000) for Singapore’s survival and growth for the next millennium.

As Singapore’s sole senior wrangler @ Cambridge University, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is uniquely qualified to explore and apply mathematics to drive Singapore towards global leadership in creativity, innovation and productivity. Thus he can lead Singapore to become the World’s ImagiNation, which is the natural successor to the “Smart Nation” initiative.

Here’s a Slideshare presentation on SG 1000, with a corresponding Medium posting:

The July 2016 date for the SG 1000 Slideshare reflects my prior submission to the Prime Minister’s Office.

With a successful SG 1000 mathematics-driven creativity and innovation initiative that drives Singapore and the world to greater productivity, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will ascend in global prominence. Perhaps the late Lee Kuan Yew might eventually be known more as the son’s father.

Honor Lee Kuan Yew by Looking to the Future, Not to the Past

If alive, the late Lee Kuan Yew might prefer to be honored by future success, not past successes. The late Lee Kuan Yew said “do not be afraid to innovate”. Let’s not be afraid to innovate even innovation itself.

Next Steps:

  1. Understand how the SG 1000 idea explores and applies mathematics to increase creativity, innovation and productivity, both in Singapore and worldwide.
  2. Share the SG 1000 solution with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong that SG 1000 allows him to apply his academic strength, mathematics, to honor the late Lee Kuan Yew by growing Singapore for the next millennium.

If Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong considers SG 1000 (= LKY) as a forward-looking solution to grow Singapore’s economy for a millennium, then his scheduled 3rd July Parliamentary address can accomplish the following:

  1. mark an initial start to SG 1000 that honors Lee Kuan Yew by focusing upon growth (not heritage)
  2. eliminate conflicting actions regarding 38 Oxley Road.

I welcome questions and feedback upon this extraordinary solution to honor Lee Kuan Yew by driving a future Singapore grounded in mathematics-driven creativity, innovation and productivity that can last a millennium.

A Cambridge University math professor shared about PM Lee Hsien Loong

An Interview with Bela Bollobas

BB: one of the greatest assets of a professional mathematician is his imagination.

SMS: There have been many Singaporeans reading mathematics

at Cambridge. Who do you recall to have been the most outstanding one?

BB: There have been many good Singaporean students, but one stands out among them; Lee Hsien Loong, your Deputy Prime Minister. He graduated at the top of his class, and he really won by a street. The one who came second has now become a world-class mathematician, but it was clear to everyone at the time who was the better one.
