Coffee at a Thousand Feet
Today I drank…
Coffee at the One World Trade Center observation deck. Pretty cool view. You can see everything but the subway.
Saw the 9/11 museum for the first time. It’s worth a visit. I wonder if any 9/11 conspiracy theorists have been. Equally as despicable as 9/11 deniers are people who blame the act on U.S. foreign policy. They probably ask victims of sexual assault what they were wearing to deserve it.
Seeing the memorial evokes in me sadness and disbelief, but also anger and disappointment. Seventeen years later and we’ve wasted trillions of dollars on pointless war, Homeland Security, and ICE. We’re being governed by a fear-based media regime driven by a simplified prejudiced view of Islam. Rudy Giuliani made fifty million dollars off the deaths of 2,500 civilians ($20,000 a pop — pretty impressive!). And we’re still taking off our fucking shoes at the airport.
Sick joke: I bet there was one victim sitting in a dreadfully boring meeting on the 85th floor of the north tower that morning thinking, “You know what I’d love right now…” and then he looked out the window and his daydream came true.
14 days dry.
