Thought about how most job adverts state that having a sense of humour is important but, from the look of it, it’s less of a priority when working for top secret government agencies. ‘Good job with the killing of the witnesses, Tom,’ my boss would say, ‘But fewer wisecracks during departmental meetings, please.’

It’s TRUE, Tom! I spent slightly more than a handful of years (6, to be exact) with a Top Secret clearance in the USAF.

One boss criticized me for being “flippantly funny” (which is probably a swanky LA comedy club we will soon see Jerry drive by in a 1961 Bugeye Sprite on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee).

I spent 3 months being Matthew Modine serious. Couldn’t do it. Broke down during inspection with some Monty Pythonish silly walk. Felt the relief flood my soul with joy.

I’m better now. I sincerely hope you are, too.
