The real shocker? The conservative “original intent” Justices- the late Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts would interpret the Second Amendment with no regard to the original intent of the authors. The whole Amendment turns on the language of “a well regulated militia being necessary”.

Since we have a standing Army, and a National Guard in each state- the Amendment becomes an exercise in what we need to do to ensure public safety. The stated goals of the Democrats are well within the scope of the Second Amendment as it is now.
