App is Everything
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22)

Listening to the Word without application results to self-deception. It’s like buying a can of paint without ever using it. It’s like buying new pair of running shoes without exercising. It doesn’t make any difference until you get the brush and start painting. It doesn’t make you healthy until you put the shoes and run. That’s what James says to Christians in this letter. You’ve got to apply the Word. You’ve got to use it. Don’t be a hearer only Christians, be a doer.
We deceived ourselves when we think that showing up to church every Sunday or attending Bible Studies brings difference in our lives. It will make you more knowledgeable but doesn’t guarantee you become humble.
The Devil doesn’t care how much Bible knowledge you have. He is not scared that you memorized Genesis to Revelation. But He alarms himself when you start seriously applying it’s truth into your life. He fights it. That’s why applying God’s Word in your life is a struggle sometimes. That’s what the parable of the soil is all about (Matthew 13). He knows that there’s power in application.
So today, seriously decide to allow God’s truth to penetrate every area in your life. Ask the Lord today to give you the courage to obey His word no matter what the cost.
