For those who are night-owls, or work night-shifts and have a few free evenings, what are some hobbies you can do that doesn’t disturb your sleeping family, friends or pet goldfish?

Most of these are things you can do silently or with headphones on, and some will be perfect for those who are suffering from insomnia and want to be productive rather than rolling around in bed all night worrying about their lack of sleep.

Reading

The often suggested hobby is to read more, and while there are loads of fiction and non-fiction books you could read, why not try some books that inspire you or educate you?

  • The Storytelling Animal: How Stories Make Us Human by Jonathan Gottschall
  • Big Magicby Elizabeth Gilbert
  • The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Lifeby Mark Manson

Or try a comedic one such as Calypso by David Sedaris or 5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth (And Other Useful Guides) by The Oatmeal

Writing

Stop consuming words and narratives and start creating your own. Nobody is expecting you to write a 452-page novel, but why not tell a story hidden deep…
