My Story: We’re Gonna Have a Good Day

I’ve always been a guy who people define very broadly as loud, energetic, intense, and any other generic adjective you could add onto that list with a thesaurus. People often don’t understand, however, that there is so much more to that attitude than just energy.

My name is Mark Crafton and I am an adventurer. I grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia along side a brother, sister, and two wonderful parents. I’ve always been very different from the rest of my family, and my passions for creativity and adventure didn’t always line up perfectly with theirs. Currently, I am double majoring in Entertainment and Media Studies and Communications Studies. While I am not completely sure what I want to do with this degree, I am quite confident it will open up opportunities for incredible adventures and experiences down the road. I have a lot of interests and hobbies that vary wildly from videography to longboarding, but the true essence of who I am is a much more complex thing to expose.

Quentin Tarantino has often made many skillful soundtrack choices for his films. If he were to create a film about my life, I am confident he would choose the perfect song for my introduction scene: “Good Day” by Nappy Roots. “Good Day” is a flawless choice for my introduction in this theoretical film and would expose my character quite accurately when paired with good opening shots.

This song works so well for me because it accurately depicts my mindset and outlook on life. I truly strive to make every day incredible, and I believe it is very important to consciously choose to seek out the good in every day. I want to live every moment of my life audaciously and surround my friends with positivity and encouragement. This song reminds me that I don’t just have to hope a good life comes to me by chance, but I actually have the opportunity every day to make the most of all the situations and moments I experience. It is very important for me to have this outlook on life, and I would definitely categorize it as one of my defining characteristics.

As I am introduced using this song, I think Tarantino would likely have a myriad of shots encompassing my adventurous spirit. He would show many breathtaking shots of me skydiving, cliff jumping, scuba diving, and various other daring activities that I love in life. The song would play casually throughout this montage of clips and would form another interesting aspect of the development of my character. As all of these crazy things are happening, the song would keep the scene grounded in a comforting and classic feeling of enjoyment. Although I am quite adventurous, it is important to recognize that I also stay true to my general positive and upbeat character. This character can enjoy himself relatively well in most any situation he is placed. I love to be around people and to enjoy life in general, and that fact stands true along with the exposition of my adventurous nature.

Nappy Roots does an incredible job in this song to encourage the world to keep a positive outlook on life and make the most of the days we have. This concept is one by which I try to live every day of my life, which is why their song would be such an ideal choice for the opening scene of a film Tarantino could create about me. I am a person who believes in the opportunity we have to make each day good, and that positivity and adventure spirit describes who I am as a person quite accurately.
