Agree with the content here Mark. I often find it simply boils down to having an open attitude from day one. I’ve consulted with hundreds of clients over the years and going in with a clear explanation of why you are there on day one and taking the time to constantly communicate with the internal staff on the ground regularly makes a world of difference to the pace and end product. I still advocate sitting with them makes a big difference as well. It’s the extra information you pick up outside of meetings that make the difference between good and great.

The 2nd and 3rd bullet really ‘struck a cord’ with me. Lately, I am starting to think the people bank rolling transformation seem to be the last ones to get on board. Some never make it, then resist the transformation they’re paying for. I wonder if some of these people need 121 coaching to help them to be more open to new ways of working before transformation efforts are rolled out, so it sticks and isn’t taken backwards. This just creates waste. Also, I’d love to see a Transformational roadmap (like the one Douglas Talbot created in Ocado Technology) visible on the wall and is proactively managed and is open for all to see. More action orientated :-) Big up Doug!
