I am a 62-year-old guy, a gym rat who does daily 3-hour monster workouts while listening to pod casts about Google Analytics, AdWords, all things social media and motorsports. I have led marketing and pr organizations in high-tech fortune 500 firms as well as a stint at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as their vp of marketing & pr.
My career has taken me a lot of interesting places including the Great Wall and victory lane as the sponsor of the winning car at the 1997 Indianapolis 500. I currently write a lot, advise businesses (through my company, MDE, Inc.) that fit my passions for physical fitness and auto racing and operate a content publishing Web site on pre-WWI auto racing history called www.firstsuperspeedway.com. It was a time when automobiles and the sport that tested them were in a very formative stage. Oh, I have political opinions that have nothing to do with ideology and frustrate those that espouse their views through such filters…
I just want to say I love this article. We are at the dawn of a new age for the automobile and change will come from outside the box. The entrenched industry members need to understand these developments. I also don’t believe Google will sit on the sidelines. They have a great position with the self-driving car and recently invested $900M in SpaceX which is relevant as another Musk company.
