BIS ISI Certification
BIS ISI Certification

Every country has its own set of manufacturing, import, and export standards and regulations. All producers must get quality certification for their products from the country’s standard body in order to manufacture, market, or import items in that country. BIS certification is required to manufacture, sell, or import goods into the Indian market, just as it is in other countries.

Only once a manufacturer has met all of the essential requirements of applicable Indian standards is a BIS license granted to use or apply the standard mark and sell their products in the Indian market.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is a national standard authority responsible for product standardization, marking, and quality certification. It is also in charge of product development, grading, management, and standardization. BIS manages a variety of certification schemes, including product certification, FMCS, CRS, hallmarking, laboratory services, laboratory recognition schemes, and many others, all with the consumer’s best interests in mind.

Let’s look at the BIS ISI Mark Certification scheme in more detail.

For domestic manufacturers, BIS runs a product certification programme known as the ISI marking scheme. A domestic manufacturer is granted a BIS license to use the Standard Mark on a product that meets an Indian Standard under this scheme.

Some items are under the BIS required certification list, while others fall under the BIS voluntary certification list. To use the standard mark and sell their goods in the Indian market, all manufacturers must receive BIS certification for their products.

BIS Certificates are only issued if all relevant standard requirements have been met. To get a BIS license, all producers must confirm that their product meets all applicable Indian standards. Companies can acquire consumer trust, ensure consumer health, and ensure that their product is safe and free of physical harm by acquiring BIS certification.

The product cannot be sold in the country unless it has the standard mark. According to Regulation 11 of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018, anyone who violates the provisions of the BIS licence shall be punished, and the Bureau may cancel the licence.
