Activate your city pass, present your QR code, and smile as you skip the queue — that pretty much sums up what you need to do to access countless attractions and benefits in cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, or Phuket. Pay a flat fee once instead of every time you visit a place, and you can forget about ticket queues, people frowning or even protesting they were first. Here’s how to use TAGTHAi’s Thailand Pass QR code, why TAGTHAi is an indispensable Thailand app, and more.

How to Use TAGTHAi’s City Pass

TAGTHAi is an app created to make travel in Thailand easy. It was released in 2022 in association with government-owned organizations like the Tourism Authority of Thailand and private companies like Kasikorn Bank, Dusit Hotels, airlines, and the largest GSM cell phone provider in the kingdom, AIS.

When you buy a city pass, there’s a specified time until which you must activate the pass in the TAGTHAi app. Once you activate a one-day pass, you have 24 hours to use it. Some attractions or benefits require a reservation in the app. Check the benefits on TAGTHAi’s Thailand pass website; those attractions that require a reservation are clearly marked as such.

You can buy the City Pass on TAGTHAi’s Thailand Pass website or in the app and activate it anytime until it expires. Once activated, you’ll get a unique QR code within a few clicks.

You can use the pass for a day, or three days, respectively, depending on the type. To suit your personal travel style, you can choose a City Pass, Massage Pass, Elephant Lover Pass, or others. By presenting your unique QR code at the entrance, you get access to attractions like the Mahanakhon SkyWalk in Bangkok, Zipline Hanuman World Phuket, and Khampan Rafting in Chiang Mai, to name just a few. TAGTHAi has also partnered with trendy cafes and rooftop bars, fine dining restaurants, massage parlors, and more.

Here’s an example of how it works in Bangkok:

To dive into Sea Life with its 270-degree glass tunnel, or Madame Tussauds, where human-sized wax replicas look deceptively real, you open your TAGTHAi Thailand app and choose one of the pre-specified arrival time periods before clicking save/reserve. Show up on time and produce your QR code; that’s all there is to it.

Wherever you want to go, check the app to see if the benefit of the pass you bought requires a reservation. If it doesn’t, you can just walk in and present your QR code. Aside from city passes, the Thailand Pass system involves other essential benefits for tourists, such as the VAT Refund.

How to Use the VAT Refund

If you’ve made tax-free purchases at participating stores, you’re eligible for an online VAT refund with TAGTHAi, a travel app Thailand that allows you to get a VAT refund the easy way. Long queues at the airport are no longer a problem thanks to the in-app refund feature. The funds will end up in your bank account or are credited to your credit card within a reasonable time.

Here are the three steps for applying:

Step 1: Open the TAGTHAi app and access the VAT Refund Menu.

Step 2: Snap a picture of your passport’s data page or fill in the form in the app manually.

Step 3: Create an account on the VAT Refund portal and submit your request. Note that you will need to enter the tax invoice number the first time.

The next time you buy souvenirs or other items, TAGTHAi will instantly sync the invoice for you, saving you a lot of time.

How to Book Hotel Rooms and Flights with TAGTHAi

Using TAGTHAi’s in-app search engine in the “booking” tab, you can book both hotel rooms and flights. The app’s booking feature sends your Thailand pass hotel request to TAGTHAi’s partners once you’ve entered a place like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, or Ayutthaya — all cities for which TAGTHAi offers a City Pass. You can also book your next domestic flight ticket to Phuket, where redeemable benefits like visits to the white-sand island of Koh Hey await. Round-trip options are available.

If you have any questions, you can email TAGTHAi’s representatives at customerservice@tagthai.com or call them at +66 (0)66 114 1955.
