How to Use Hypnotherapy to Lose Weight

Sometimes counselors use hypnosis to relax their clients while they are working together. Those that use hypnosis think the patient can think about words and visuals consciously and unconsciously. The person receiving this technique would therefore be more susceptible to change in all aspects of their person

Hypnotherapy and similar treatments began around the 1700s in order to support patients with multiple conditions. Some people have researched that hypnotherapy could help with obesity specifically. Hypnotherapy could be considered one bariatric weight loss program.

Is hypnotherapy the right thing to use for a bariatric weight loss program?

Instead of adjusting food intake and intentional workouts, hypnotherapy may aid weight loss even more than those two items. People think that the habit of eating too much can be adjusted by using hypnotherapy. People also still disagree on whether or not the process is actually helpful to patients seeking an effective bariatric weight loss program.

There was research related to hypnotherapy that showed that it could be a good bariatric weight loss program for people who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea. The research study followed the participants who had either used hypnotherapy or been on a diet, and in the first check -up, all those who had participated had lost the same amount of weight over the course of 3 months.

After a year and a half, those that had used hypnotherapy had lost approximately (using an average across those that were involved) more weight. There was not conclusive results from the research, but the research showed that there should be more research regarding how hypnotherapy can work as a bariatric weight loss program.

You should observe that there still needs to be more research done to showcase hypnotherapy by itself can work as a bariatric weight loss program. Usually when hypnotherapy is mentioned in relation with weight loss, it is also mentioned with eating less, working out more, or going to see a therapist.

What might happen if you use hypnotherapy?

When you have your first hypnotherapy appointment, a good practitioner will tell you what you’re about to experience. They will also talk to you about what you hope to accomplish by going through these hypnotherapy appointments. After all of this, your practitioner may talk to you in a quiet tone so that you begin to calm down and relax. After this happens and your mind is more open, your hypnotherapy practitioner will start to discuss how to switch up how you eat or workout or how to be disciplined with a bariatric weight loss program. Sometimes it is effective during all of this for words to be repeated. You may also be prompted to imagine visually what your weight loss goals are. When the appointment is coming to an end, the practitioner will guide you back to how you were at the beginning of the session.

The number of times you should return to have hypnotherapy appointments depends on what you would like to get out of the appointments.

The variety within hypnotherapy

There is much variety in the world of hypnotherapy. There is one style of hypnotherapy called “suggestion therapy.” Sometimes a hypnotherapy practitioner combines CBT or different therapy styles with hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy: The Prices

The prices related to hypnotherapy can change quite drastically because of location and which practitioner you decide on. Make sure you check in with the practitioner to confirm what the costs will be for hypnotherapy sessions.

It is possible that your sessions might be possibly covered by insurance. You should still make sure you check in and do your research to make sure you understand what is covered under your particular insurance.

If you talk to your doctor, you should be able to find a good hypnotherapist.

Hypnotherapy: The Perks

When the goal for a person is to be more willing to adjust certain repetitive actions, hypnosis is a good way to meet this goal. Sometimes people have exceptionally speedy, positive responses to this treatment, and sometimes people do not have exceptionally speedy, positive responses. It really depends on the person.

Different people benefit from hypnotherapy in different amounts. If someone is not selfish, hypnotherapy might be more effective towards them. This is good news for those who are trying to use hypnotherapy.

People who are older than 40 years old are more likely to be receptive to hypnotherapy. Women more than men are more open to hypnosis.

If a certified practitioner of hypnotherapy uses it on clients, it should be safe for the clients. Controlling people by their thoughts is not the intention or essence of hypnotherapy. A practitioner of hypnotherapy cannot make someone do what they do not want to do.

It is important that research remains ongoing in relation to how hypnotherapy relates to weight loss abilities. Think about researching a nutritionist or ask another medical professional for medical advice about creating the best bariatric weight loss program for you.

Gabriella’s Story

Gabriella Phillips, Certified RTT Hypnotherapist, works with people who struggle with eating due to emotions, self-confidence issues, binge eating, and issues losing weight.

She has a Specialty Certification in Weight Loss Hypnosis which she received at the American Hypnosis Association. She also has a Counseling Certification which she received at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

Gabriella created Self Image Studio so she could help women stop restricting their food in an unhealthy manner. Gabriella had been restricting her food intake starting when she was 8 years old. She weighed close to 350 pounds when she was around 30 years old. She knows what it is like to suffer because of overeating, separation from friends and family, and hating your body.

Gabriella knows what it is like to be her clients, but she also enjoys helping her clients in a way she never had experienced.

Usually people who restrict their food intake too much don’t remain in a state of weight loss; It usually comes right back. Eating due to emotions is what some people do to survive difficult situations and difficult emotions. Restriction of food intake looks outward, when the real work needs to start inwardly.

The ongoing bounce between increasing in weight and decreasing in weight makes people feel sad, desperate, disappointed, and much more. Again, if you want to stop the bounce between losing and gaining pounds, you have to recognize what is going on internally that is causing the binge eating.

Once these practices were used in her own day-to-day experience, Gabriella is confident in her body’s size and comfortable in her beautiful, healthy life.

She is grateful for the chance to gain knowledge about practices that help people change their unhealthy eating habits. She loves helping her clients find their own path to a free and balanced life in their day to day and in their weight journey.

Summary

Hypnotherapy will not make a weight loss journey instantly easy and accessible. However, if hypnotherapy is included with good eating habits, consistent workouts, and other types of healthy living, then you may see results with this bariatric weight loss program.
