This year, for the first time, OnePlus has introduced two models: the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. Of course, both smartphones have some differences that we have gathered for you to help you choose the perfect OnePlus device for you.

For many manufacturers, it is now normal to present different variants of their flagship, usually a more powerful version or larger, then a “reduced” version in some respects. OnePlus, on the other hand, has always launched two phones a year at six-month intervals. But in 2019, the Chinese manufacturer decided to do things differently and, for the first time, we see coming a OnePlus 7 and a OnePlus 7 Pro.

Design: an old and a completely new

Anyone with a OnePlus 7 will notice little difference with the OnePlus 6T. The new smartphone has the same screen with a drop-shaped notch that contains the front camera. However, you can easily see that the location for the earpiece at the top end of the smartphone is slightly larger than the old model.

The situation is completely different when you choose the OnePlus 7 Pro. The new 6.67 “Fluid-AMOLED screen with curved edges and a 3120 x 1440 pixel resolution is almost borderless — there’s no notch or hole, because OnePlus decided to lean on the pop-up camera that automatically opens on a user command via the camera application.

A faster screen, but only on the Pro

The screen of the OnePlus 7 Pro is not only bigger, it also offers a higher refresh rate. In fact, the OnePlus 7, like most other smartphones, offers a refresh rate of 60 Hz and an FHD + resolution (2340×1080 pixels).

The Pro version, on the other hand, has a frame rate of 90 Hz, a feature that could only be seen on game smartphones. However, it should be noted that not all apps or games are able to play yet. to support 90 Hz, just like the HDR10 + content that is still rare today, although the OnePlus 7 Pro is perfectly capable of managing it.

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a more versatile camera

Of course, the Pro variant photo compartment is better equipped, but both models use Sony’s 48 megapixel IMX586 sensor as the main camera. The pixelization technology of this sensor allows you to combine four pixels into one to capture more information and minimize image noise, especially in low light conditions. In practice, because of the combination of pixels, the actual resolution of the images is 12 megapixels.

The OnePlus 7 is equipped with a second 5 megapixel camera that collects various depth-of-field information and is therefore responsible for portrait mode. The OnePlus 7 Pro does not have this lens but accompanies the main sensor with a 3x 8MP (f / 2.4) telephoto lens and a 16MP ultra wide-angle lens capable of capturing 117 degrees of field of view.

Fans can also use the OnePlus 7 Pro’s camera to capture videos in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. The front camera is the same: this is the 16-megapixel sensor IMX471 from Sony, which in the standard version is located inside the notch, while on the Pro appears automatically in the pop-up mechanism.

The power under the hood is the same

Even if you do not own the OnePlus 7 Pro, you still get the same performance. As expected, the manufacturer has installed Qualcomm’s current high-end processor, the Snapdragon 855. You can then choose between 6/128 GB or 8/256 GB of memory. However, the Pro is also available with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.

OnePlus also decided to use for the first time the new fast UFS 3.0 memories on both smartphones, so that from this point of view there will be no difference.

The battery of OnePlus 7 is the same as the previous model with a capacity of 3700 mAh and boasts fast charging features. The OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand, has a larger battery of 4000 mAh but supports the 30W Warp Charge technology, the same as that found on the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition.

The OnePlus 7 Pro will be the first to arrive

OnePlus 7 Pro will be the first of two models on the market. It will be available from May 21, while the standard version will be available until June.
