Mourning Legends through Music

We’ve lost a lot of people in the past 12 months, while we concentrate on David Bowie and Prince other figures that are arguably just as devestating, also passed away.

  • BB King
  • Gary Richrath (“Can’t fight this feeling with REO Speedwagon)
  • Percy Sledge (“When a man loves a woman”)
  • Lesley Gore (“it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to”)

It may also surprise you that James Horner passed into the music arcadia, the composer of music that stirs your feelings during movies like Titanic, Avatar, Willow, Aliens and even Star Trek II : The Wrath of Khan.

What makes these people legends? Are they more talented than Bruno Mars, Charlie Puth, Sia or even Kayne West (he tells us he is “The most important living artist” after all). In my humble opinion, the answer is that YOU make them legends, the generation that grew up with them, the generation that lay on their beds with headphones on, day dreaming through the music.

The best way to appreciate these artists, is not to disdain what is built on their shoulders, we loved David, Prince, BB, Gary, Percy, Lesley and the many others that died in 2015/2016, but lets make more legends, lets turn our attention to the current nascent artists that will, with time and experience and your support, possibly, just maybe, become legends.
