What is Stigma

Welcome to home page of the Stigma novel.

What’s it all about?

The novel tells of strange letters that appear above the heads of some of the inhabitants of the United Kingdom on the 1st January 2021. What are these strange letters? Where did they come from? What do they mean? Over the course of the novel some of these questions will be answered.

How did it come about?

Back at the end of 2014 I had an idea about how we could make the world a better place. It was, to be honest, pure fantasy. It could never happen. Over the next couple of months the idea kept spinning around my head until finally I decided to write it down as a short story. I was happy with the finished story, but during the writing of those 7,000 or so words I kind of got a bug for writing. I decided to turn it into a full length book.

Why have I chosen to publish my novel in this way?

Now I’m not an author, in fact I failed English at school. With the work I went into, British Forces and IT engineering, there has never been a real need for my English language skills to be at a level where I would need to write anything of this length or standard.

Realising this, I decided that I wasn’t going to waste my time trying to get it published the normal route. I had already paid out nearly £1000 to get a couple of independent reviews, money which realistically I would never recoup. I had thought about self publishing via Kindle, etc, possibly charging a small amount. If I was going to charge for the story I would want it proof/copy read before doing so, again money that I probably wouldn’t get back.

So in the end I’ve decided to self-publish in an entirely different manner. Over the next couple of months I will upload either a whole chapter or sub-chapter after a sanity check and then push it here.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
