Do we not sometimes wander lost

Like stars far from heaven’s hold

Old and cold in these lonely streets of the mind

Hoping to find a way back

Before the world cracked

But instead circling round the same old ground

Our hearts hungry for something more

Than this circle of despair engraved upon the floor

-

And yet memory is an open door

For though our hands yearn to burn

With the warmth of another

To feel the soulfire heat of a lover

How can we find our wings

When they are so tightly wrapped around

That we drown in our own night

-

That we drown out the sight and sound

Of a world waiting to see us in flight

Waiting outside for us to see

That we are not yet lost to the possibility

Not yet lost to the bliss

Of two souls entwined in a kiss

-

For are we not stars

And though far from heaven’s hold

Our fires burn distant but never cold

And they are distant only in this instant

Not condemned to be for eternity

For somewhere out there awaits one

Who upon coming closer

Will rekindle

The poetry of your soul like the sun

-

So awake and arise

Open the door of your heart

Take the chance to fly

For there is still time

For there is still time

To leave the past behind

-

There is still time

To find yourself free falling

In that moment of magic calling

When the world slips

Like the night before the dawn

-

There is still time

Beneath the endless skies of morn

To find a heart suddenly reborn

Lost in the eclipse

Of a beautiful pair of eyes
