These times are a changin’….

It was great to see in todays Sunday Times Magazine, such a well-written piece on how more “high-profile” male workers are adopting flexible-working patterns.

In my opinion, the more profile that the success of these “more human” practices achieve for both the employer & employee the better.

An organisation which is willing to support healthy, balanced lifestyles for their employees will be in a far stronger position to attract & retain the calibre of employee which places these needs high on their criteria of what makes a desirable employer.

By evolving the working environment so that it reflects and enables a healthy, refreshing and productive lifestyle, organisations will become destinations which appeal to people who recognise that in order to produce their best work they need to be at their best both physically and mentally.

As we happily wave goodbye to the draconian working practices of the Industrial Age and lovingly embrace the more humane, personalised, tailored practices of the Digital Age — this “trend” isn’t going to be discretionary or selective — its rapidly becoming a mandatory pre-requisite for any organisation which wishes to attract & retain the most talented resource out there.

So let’s help our organisations by telling them our needs for better working environments and practices — let’s take ownership of accelerating the evolution of the modern workplace.

As I said in a previous post — ‘We Are The Generation’.

Now is our time — let’s seize the moment and be part of a revolution which will change the way we work forever.

Now, thats quite a legacy to pass onto future generations isn’t it?
