you call out for, you are SCREAMING FOR, validation. Like most people you never thought you got enough, or even if you did, it didn’t come freely from the people who ought to have given it. It’s hard to ask — and if you do, you second guess the voracity of the praise because ‘you had to ask’. It’s OK to ask. Sometimes, just by asking and by explaining why it matters so much, why we need it so much — a dialogue appears and people change. Mostly we revert to our ‘script’ and old habits, but change does happen. Not every time. Not with everyone. But it does happen — and they will adapt to a new you. And you will adapt to a ‘new them’. Your W-5 questions are not the root of everything you write — those are just questions you ask. At the root, is ‘who you are’ … keep digging for that
