Perks, Perks, & More Perks
I’m working on some ideas
As you may or may not know one of the benefits of becoming a member of this publication is that you receive perks. Many other publications give their supporters/members perks.
Perks in the form of locked content. Or may special posts and access to Slack Channels and more.
****Note: The picture above would be a fantastic perk, but alas we can’t make it happen. At least not yet!
When we first started, I had thought of different perks to give and then after some soul searching and speaking with a friend of mine who runs another publication we decided to keep everything open.
I mean the idea of this publication was for everyone to feel good about posting and for everyone out there to see their work. So why would I have locked content?
Now I’m leaning to adding a few perks, but not locking content as in posts. I’m thinking more in the lines of a newsletter, maybe a podcast or vlog or something else.
The Something else is what I need help with. What I’m going to do is ask you for ideas. If you were to sign up as a member or are already signed up what would you like to get as a perk based on the ideas I mentioned above or something within those lines?
I tried setting up a slack channel, and so far that failed. I have toyed around with the idea of a private group on Facebook which another publication did, and it worked great for them. That’s a possibility.
So in the comments section below hit me up with some ideas. I could use some help.
If you’re not a member or choose not to be no worries, the content coming from these great writers will always be open to everyone. How could I ever keep these posts from everyone?

I didn’t set out to make this a for-profit project. When we started a year ago, that wasn’t even a thought. Then Medium offered a chance to support writers and readers by including us in their membership beta.
Because of that, I can run these monthly contests. Although if I could raise more, I would up the prize value which now stands at $5.00 per winner in the form of a Starbucks Card. Not great, but not bad either.
With more members, I could also have contests for readers and raffles every so often for everyone. As I said, we are not about profit. We want everyone involved to get rewarded for supporting us.
So think about some ideas for perks. Think about becoming a member if you aren’t already and help us be better.
