So You Don’t Want To Change? Part 2
The Healthy Change
In part one I wrote about change being something that many fear. Change is something that many don’t embrace and really don’t want anything to do with it.
Well if you had ADHD like me you would be in a constant state of change which can be good or bad depending on how you perceive it. As I like change I find it to benefit my lifestyle and my excitement on a daily basis.
Change is not easy. Jim Rohn who is quoted in the above picture states simply “You life does not get better by chance. It gets better by change.”
Very powerful statement there by Jim. I had the opportunity years ago to listen to Jim speak and he was a fantastic motivator. The thing I found with his speeches were Jim believed in change and embraced change every chance he had. His speeches were full of talk of change and how it could help your life.
So health wise why is change good? See this is ADHD working at it’s best I switched topic right in the middle of something else. Sorry.
Change is good though. Here is a great example of change it wasn't that bad was it? For me it wasn't that bad.
As in life healthy changes are small steps waiting to happen. If you went to the Doctor tomorrow and he said “if you don’t make changes you will die very soon.” The changes he is asking you to make include diet, lifestyle and exercise. What would you do?
If you said I would go out and start making those changes because I want to live, which is the smart move then you do not fear change. You may be a little bit cautious but you will make changes to live a full life.
You will make changes if you want to see your kids and grandkids grow up. You will make changes if you want to live longer with your significant other. You will make changes because you want and need too. You are not being forced so to speak. You could not change and die. What fun would that be?
So changes in health are a little bit easier to make when there is a life and death issue or even just getting in better health. Although when it comes to just plain life, change is feared. Why?
If changing for health is good and healthy wouldn't it stand to reason that change in life is good and healthy and exciting? Wouldn't it be something you would want to embrace or at least give it a try?
I mentioned a quote from Yogi Berra, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” To me this quote is pretty self-explanatory. The way I take it is when you get to that fork, it times to change. It’s time to put fear behind you and make the call. The call is to change. To make the change in health or life or anything else to grow. To follow a new direction and grow. To make life, health and everything else exciting and wonderful and awakening.
What do you fear about change? Would you take the fork in the road?
