We all have biases, myself included. I have now seen yours. While I agree with the premise of your argument and many of your subsequent supporting statements, I am not nearly as pessimistic regarding American’s chances of coming back up in the world.

I’m going to go out on a limb and make a wild guess that you weren’t born in the states to begin with, thus you don’t have the same perspective which would make your opinion more of an outsider’s view. That’s fine, but it doesn’t really accurately portray America.

I’ve lived in Europe for years. I was born in California. I’ve lived in several regions in the United States. I have perspective. Worldy perspective.

For all the faults America does have, there are corresponding positives that make it unique. We aren’t Europe and we don’t want to be. Do you remember how America was born? That should tell you all you need to know about the heritage of the country.

I’m not sure free healthcare and education are coming any time soon, but I do know that America will remain a superpower for the foreseeable future.

You are too quick to close the book on a country that is still relatively young in it’s development, but with more potential than other in the Western civilized world.
