What is it?

Pigeonhole sort is a sorting algorithm where items in an array is sorted by use of an initially empty array, or pigeon holes, and a couple of functions. The algorithm is useful when sorting a list of items where the number of items (n) is approximately the same as the range of the items (K or N).

There are a many ways to write this sorting algorithm, and I will be attaching two of different ways below.

Imagine a scenario where a task is given; to find a watermelon weighing one hundred pounds among one hundred identical looking watermelons with different weight sorted by weight lightest to heaviest (each watermelon is a pound heavier than the prior, the first watermelon is one pound) and take the least amount of time doing so. The only way to check the weight of the watermelon is to weigh it out one by one. Each time a watermelon is weighed, five seconds go by. One method is to weigh out each watermelon until the watermelon that weighs one hundred pounds is…

After finishing up Back End Web 1.1 and finally having a deeper understanding in using Flask to build websites, there was a new challenge, using Django to build websites. To compare Django to Flask is like comparing a NFL playbook to a high school football team’s playbook. Flask has one main python folder where the developer types all the routes in, but in Django the developer has many more python files to worry about.

What I learned about Django

At first when I looked at my friend’s Django code it was daunting and discouraging because of the abundance of python files. However, upon further inspection…

You get in a car after leaving the airport. As you ride around, the tingling feeling of exploration and being adventurous pulsates inside of you. You start thinking about all the places you want to visit, but you start to worry. What if it is not quite the place you think you want to be and ends up being a waste of time and money. While visiting a new place could be exciting and refreshing, it could also leave you equally unsure about where to start. You don’t know where to go to have fun and what to see. …

Product Idea

My product would help travelers and new comers find places they would not know about through places shared by other users. When I search on Google places to visit in San Francisco, I only get places that are either well known or is an established business (Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz island). Not until I went out with my friends did I found about all the hidden gems around San Francisco. After leaving the pier, we walked entered a neighborhood where at a T intersection, there was an amazing view of the street going downhill leading to a…

Conducting User Interviews

User interviews is a great way to find out what the users want. To find out how the public would react to my idea, I went out on user interviews. I went to Union Square in San Francisco because I knew I would have the best chance of meeting tourists. I was right about the tourist part, but I did not anticipate how aloof they would be when I approached them to ask questions. Almost no one was interested in getting asked questions. So, I decided to make my way over to the mall. In the midst…
