Black and Latino: One of our highest paying jobs is calling our own people BITCH and NIGGER.

Rae Sremmurd — “No type” video clip- YouTube.com

The other day I found myself about 3818 miles from New York City. Not far when you really think about it. Cross the Atlantic to Europe, then cross Spain to the east and you’re in beautiful Barcelona.

So here I am relaxing on the beach watching my son play around in the water. We just finished playing a tough game of beach soccer (oh that hurts).

After sitting there for a few minutes on the warm sand starring into the Meditterrean, I heard an all too familiar sound behind me. It was hip hop, rap or whatever you want to call it now. The song playing was a song by a person whom I know. A person who happens to be very white skinned, but for whatever reason he has always had kind of carte blanche to call himself and others “Nigger” in music and even conversation.

Fat Joe — YouTube.com

The song blasted “I am all the way up”. A track I actually liked. The young Catalans played the song over and over. Admittedly, I almost started to not like the beat anymore. When I first heard this song, I actually liked it…However after paying attention to lyrics, I saw that it was just another Fat Joe song. One that talks about drugs, bitches and money. How creative it that?

After hearing the same song about 12 times, my mind started to wander. Then, I thought…It would be interesting to figure out the highest paying jobs for Black (Latinos included) people in America. Without any real scientific calculations, I would say sports, hip hop and rap music pays the minority communities the best salaries.

Few numbers that make it clear:

  • The weekly salary for a Black worker is $652 versus $889 for all races.
  • The Black medium household income is about $18,000 less than all races combined.
  • Average Black family earns $22,000 less per year.
  • 11% of all Black families earn between $100-$200,000 per year.
  • 38% of all Black families earn between $35–$100,000 per year.
  • 49% of all Black families earn less than $35,000 per year.

Now for the net worths of some of America’s best paid rappers and hip hop celebrities:

T.I. worth $50 million

Kendrick Lamar $20 million

French Montana $10 million

Asap Rocky $3 million

Future $2 million

Tyga $2 million

Desiigner $2 million

Bet you probably have not heard of all these guys…This is why I listed these guys and not the usual suspects like Jay-Z (over $500 million), Sean Puffy Combs ($785 million) and 5o Cent (Over $150 million).

“When I listen to the culture of the music that I am part of I feel so disconnected sometimes. I’m not sure if they’re speaking English and other times every other word is b#$%^, this and n@# that”, said Artemus Smith, BehaviorManagementConsultants.net, an organization dedicated to working with at-risk youth in the New York City Tri-state area. “Surely, this has a profound negative effect on our youth. I’ve worked with at-risk youth for 20+ years and I know it’s a sad day when I hear young girls starting their conversation with ‘yo my nigga’… Where did she learn that?”, Smith asked puzzled.

The sad part of this quick research is…hands down: Our black (Latino included) community’s best paying job is calling our own people BITCH and NIGGER.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
