I agree with you entirely.

Some folks are trying to feed a family from their writing here, so they can perhaps be excused for whipping up another self-help listicle (I think it must take all of ten minutes) to keep the wheels turning.

Looking at the available stats, neither you nor I are looking for this to put food on the table, so we can be a little more hobbyist about it.

My pet peeve is writers on Medium writing about writing on Medium. Doesn’t stop me reading some of the more famous ones, but it’s often with a sense of distaste, like I really know I’m not going to learn anything new, but just in case…

The real problem with both self-help and writing coaches is that they seem to be promoted so efficiently that it’s hard for me to wade through the Medium notifications to find the thoughtful, quirky writing that I’m looking for.
