The reason Shakespeare and the Greek Tragedies are still read and performed today is because the emotions of love, hate, anger and betrayal are still the driving forces of most human beings. History doesn’t only repeats itself because we forget but also because the emotions of human beings and groups of human beings diet evolve. The assumption that we are smarter then those before us, is the start of the repetition.
