Super Bowl: Ads first, then Football
Every year the whole advertising industry waits for the Super Bowl, the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). But they are not waiting for the 49ers, Patriots, Giants nor Falcons. Frankly speaking, they are not there because of American Football. They are waiting for the Super Bowl Ads. The most expensive advertising time, a 30-second commercial could exceed $5 million at Super Bowl 51.
Why Super Bowl?
Well, the Super Bowl is among the States’ most watched TV broadcasts: Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 set an all-time record for viewership of the game, with an average of 114.4 million viewers according to Nielsen, exceeding the record set the previous year at Super Bowl XLVIII (112.2 million).
Also, there’s the overall buzz surrounding them; often commercials receive additional airplay during newscasts and morning shows. What’s more, the ads earns a lot of views on YouTube. Many of them become viral videos. Supercell’s Clash of Clans Revenge TV Commercial featuring Liam Neeson earned 150M views on YouTube
