There are very few interesting Thai tech hardware companies out there. According to my knowledge, the top one is the book scanner company Atiz. This team also expanded into wearable device called Wellograph. (See the interview here, in Thai language)

The other up and coming hardware company is Drivebot. The idea is simple but quite powerful: every modern cars have ODB-II port for diagnosis, let create one device connecting ODB-II and summarize all data to your phone via Bluetooth.

There are many ODB-connected devices on eBay and many monitoring apps on Google Play Store. Drivebot said that what make it standout are the good app experience and thoughtful analytics. I think it’s a good example for “Software Eating the World” mantra. Let see how they can achieve this in real life.

Drivebot team entered DTAC Accelerate program in early 2014 and became one of five finalists. They also joined other startup events in Thailand such as Echelon Thailand 2014.

Now the team starts crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo and hope to raise $35,000 for the first batch of production devices. I think $35,000 is quite a challenging goal but I ordered one anyway to show my support. You can see more details on Indiegogo page and Blognone article on the campaign, which the team come and answer questions.

If Drivebot team success on fundraising and can deliver the first batch of product, it will be other big milestone of Thai tech startup community as whole.
