Fernandez and Wells

Exhibition Road South Kensington

On my way to TFM&A2014 (Technology for Marketing and Advertising) I made an effort to drop into Fernandez and Wells on Exhibition Road, South Kensington that had been reccomended to by a friend who takes his coffee very seriously indeed.

Now I should preface this post by saying that strictly speaking I’m not a coffee connoisseur.

However I am a huge fan of sitting with a coffee and pastry in excellent surroundings and just watching the world take place around me.

So I was particularly happy that Fernandez and Wells transpired to be the perfect place for me.

Not only was the coffee outstanding, but the place was animated as only a coffee shop can be at 8am.

I tend to find artisan coffee a bit on the strong and bitter side for my taste so I was pleastantly surprised my latte was smooth and silky.

I ordered another.

I’m a people watcher… Apparently

I recently did a personality test that flagged that I probably like to people watch.

I never realised it before but it’s true I really do like to soak up what’s going on around me.

In that respect Fernandez and Wells was brilliant: every few minutes a new patron would arrive through the doors and be greeted with a familiarity that that indicated they could actually be staff (and in a couple of cases that observation would have been spot on).

It was clear that most of the morning’s clientele were regulars, with transactions unfolding with the bare minimum of instruction.

After chatting briefly to one of the Baristas I pulled out my camera and asked if she would be happy with me taking a few photos, which got us talking about what I did for a living and from there talking about social media (she had just set up the Fernandez and Wells Instagram page).

She asked if I was a blogger to which I replied no, although as you can see from my tweet the seed was planted.

Now as I sit at home after two days of TFM&A2014 I feel I ought to make a run of blogging on a personal level. I’ve been blogging in a sense, corporately for years, but I wanted something more personal and less professional.

I plan to blog about everything from exciting stuff in the digital marketing world right through to posts like this about a nice coffee in South Ken.

I hope you enjoy some of it.
