Fact Check: Does A. Baerbock Not Know Geometry?

On Twitter, people are sharing a video of Annalena Baerbock where she asks Putin to turn around 360 degrees:

This is taken as evidence that Baerbock does not know geometry. A turn by 360 degrees, so the conspiracy theory goes, always results in exactly the same orientation as you had initially.

This is factually wrong. Here is a counter example:

Start at Earth’s north pole and move to the equator. Turn 90 degrees and move along the equator until you are at the opposite side of the Earth. Turn another 90 degrees so you face north again, and move back to the north pole. After this, turn another 180 degrees.

In this example, you end up in the same spot where you began and have turned by 90+90+180=360 degrees. But you now face the opposite way!

Given that Baerbock is obviously an educated person with a lot of experience, this is clearly what she meant. Our judgement: conspiracy theory debunked!
