AIDS as a “punishment” for being gay?

Please, please exercise safe sex.

Even with medical advances, being HIV positive still carries complexity in handling health issues that may arise from dealing with the infection’s repercussions on a daily basis. Whilst there may well soon be a vaccine, my guess is that it would not entirely eradicate the disease and it may well still carry issues around management.

When in doubt, leave it out…of the equation, so to speak.

Personally, I have lost so many of my close friends and ex-partners. So much so that in 2018 I feel like part of a ‘lost’ generation of gay men, hence this series.

I can’t stress enough the need for openness in the media and discussion on this subject. People need to be acutely aware of the dangers.

In particular, there is a strong need for culturally diverse members of the LGBITQ community to talk about HIV. People without English as their first language can feel isolated both emotionally and culturally should they become HIV positive.
