Love the World

Human beings are social creatures. We require interactions with others to give our lives meaning, little alone keep our sanity. I know personally, even when I’m alone, I speak to myself and more often than I would like to admit, I imagine what others might think or how they might respond to what I have said. So yes, even when I’m alone I am looking forward to and preparing myself for the next interaction with others.

Love Yourself

Have you ever noticed friend groups are most often made up of people whom are of the same socioeconomic status, like the same activities and most likely voted for the same candidate? People are pulled towards those whom are like themselves and share their own beliefs; the name for this phenomenon is homophily.

The World Loves Back

Social media platforms utilize algorithms to serve up information to their users based on what they have “liked.” The idea is, the more information that some individual sees on the social media site that agrees with how the user sees the world, the more that person will want to return later. This is a slippery slope however, because it can lead to individuals only seeing their own beliefs echoed back to them creating a false sense that the greater world agrees with their beliefs. One must be cautious to ensure they aren’t falsely allured into believing this type of self-reinforcing belief system.
