There is no guarantee of tomorrow

I ask God to guide me to love now. Now, I still have realtively good health. My mind is still sharp and my personality is still at its fullest. And so I ask God to guide me to love, now. We are all aging. That’s part of life. Life is a gift and such a great one at that. It’s so easily taken for granted because of the speed in which we live. We live fast, shaken, like in a centrifuge stirred. Guide me to love now oh Lord. No longer waiting for when I have more money, more time, more status, more job security. I ask to be guided to love now. “Guided” because I may not truly know what love is. I ask because I am not the source of love. Plus, I don’t know what my today holds and who may happen to come by my way. And so I ask, because there is no guarantee of tomorrow for us all. Honestly, there’s very little we can mitigate and control. One absolute thing we can control is our gratitude. Our gratitude for today and what we have in our lives. Do you still have your grandparents? Do you still have your parents? Do you still have your brothers and sisters? Do you still have a place to stay? Do you still have food to eat? Do you still have friends? Do you still have hobbies? Do you still have some money? Do you still have a job? Do you still have people you love? Even if you don’t have any of that, you still have God. Love will accompany you whether you feel it or not. We control our gratitude. There is no tomorrow for tomorrow always becomes today. I ask God to guide me to love now, today, this moment, without a lot of money, job security, privilege, status, renown, or popularity. And, even if those things come my way, they never last. Things will die. I ask God to guide me to love today.
