A Blessing for Student Teachers
Each year, our Student Council holds a blessing service for student teachers in Marquette’s Joan of Arc Chapel. Dr. Bill Henk, Dean of the College of Education, shares his words of hope for the fall.
Prayer for Marquette Student Teachers
We give thanks for all of our students and especially our student teachers.
Thank you for the way in which these human blessings will give of themselves each day in the classroom,
Serving the next generation of this world, children and adolescents who are blessings in their own right to us all as well.
Father, please fill our new teachers’ hearts with courage by your mighty Spirit.
Fill them with your strength, so they may rise to every challenge and not grow weary.
Fill them with your wisdom, so that they may be able to make good judgments when guiding and helping others.
Fill them with your peace, so that when stress and anxiety comes it will not overwhelm them.
Fill them with your joy, so that the passion they have for learning may become an infectious passion that spreads.
We ask all of this in Your Holy Name.
A Blessing For Our Student Teachers from the COED Faculty and Staff
May your gift of teaching awaken minds to new ideas and expand hearts beyond boundaries.
May your desire to educate evoke the unique gifts of each student and the deep desires of each heart.
May your love of learning lead students to awe and wonder at their participation in our sacred universe.
May your story-telling inspire imagination and creativity and your example lead those you teach to be generous and noble.
And, as you bless your students on their way, may you delight at the gift your life offers to their future and to the world.
And we all join in saying “Amen.”
