Chatting with our Cristo Rey Student, Casey Lopez

--

Starting this fall, the College of Education’s youngest team member will be walking our halls — Casey Lopez is a freshman at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and a corporate work study student. She hopes to attend Marquette someday soon. We wanted to get to know her a little better as one of our own and a future student!

“I come here and it’s smiles everywhere!”

When asked, Casey shared that her favorite part of the Cristo Rey experience so far is the Corporate Work Study Program. She’s getting valuable work experience and to know what’s coming as a professional in the workplace. Hoping to learn professionalism and adjacent skills, Casey is eager and enthusiastic about her role in the College of Education.

In her free time, Casey enjoys volleyball, singing, playing the piano and the violin. She’s been playing the piano for two years and just picked up violin this year! We had to ask: what are her favorite songs? For this multi-talented musician, picking just one was tough! But Casey did narrow it down to classical music, the Beatles, and (a little more contemporary) Shawn Mendes. Besides studying math and science in order to pursue medical school, Casey also loves history. Since we are here in the College of Education, we also had to ask about her favorite book. For the record, Casey recommends The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, and we are heading out to re-read this classic pronto! Welcome aboard, Casey —stay (blue and) gold!
