What opportunities are available for students who study abroad?

Marquette University offers many different kinds of opportunities for students to study abroad. Anyone thinking about studying abroad should consider their academic, personal, and professional goals to make the most of their experience.

Who can study abroad?

Students can study abroad starting their sophomore year. Anyone from any major can study abroad, but it is always important to plan ahead and determine what classes you can take while in another country. Many students successfully integrate study abroad into their four-year plan. In fact, of Marquette’s 2017 graduating class, 25% took advantage of the opportunity to study abroad.

When can I study abroad?

Students can participate in semester or full academic year programs, as well as short-term programs over the winter or spring breaks.

Is studying abroad affordable?

Yes! Any financial aid you receive from Marquette transfers to any Marquette-approved study abroad program, including scholarships, grants, and loans. Be sure to look at scholarship opportunities as well. There are many countries where the cost of living is significantly lower than it is here in the United States. Keep this in mind when choosing a program and setting a budget.
