When I lived in Ecuador a few years ago, I got a job as a tutor for rich kids who were applying to American universities. I taught SAT prep classes on grammar and Algebra, making me, by proxy, an expert on English grammar.

Little did I know that a few years later I’d be working primarily as a Content Manager, editing hundreds of articles each year.

I’ve been working in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for the last four years and it has ruined me.

Or saved me, depending on how you look at it.

Browsing the internet used to be a fun and interesting venture that taught me how to make my own toothpaste or why a raw food diet is the best diet for humans.

I would read these articles dutifully as if I was doing my part as a critical thinker to find out what I really think.

But, you know, based on what others think online.

And then I left the country and got some writing gigs online to pay for my travels as I bounced through Latin America with nothing but full faith in humanity. …

The whole reason I chose to become a digital nomad was so that I could work less and play more. I thought that I would miraculously shed my urges to use up all of my time working on some project or another.

But of course, some things don’t change.

So here I am, re-starting my vegan food blog. I started it 10 years ago when I first discovered the raw food diet. As I played with recipes in my kitchen at night, I wrote about them from my office during the day.
