Good citizenship means to conduct oneself in accordance with the rights, duties, and privileges of being an inhabitant of a geographical location by means of birth or naturalization.

Example of a good citizen:

  • Volunteer to be active in your community.
  • Be honest and trustworthy.
  • Follow rules and laws.
  • Respect the rights of others.
  • Be informed about the world around you.
  • Respect the property of others.
  • Be compassionate.
  • Take responsibility for your actions.

Quality of a good citizen:

  • Sound Health.
  • Intelligence and Education.
  • Self control and Self confidence.
  • Public Spirit.
  • Self-sacrifice.
  • Sincere performance of Duties.
  • Right ordering of Loyalties.

Characteristics of a good citizen:

  • Obeys the law .
  • Contribute to Society and Community.
  • Performs Civic Duty.
  • Loves his/her country.
  • Patriotism.
  • Courtesy and respect for the rights of others.
  • Trust worthy and Honesty.
  • Tolerance.
  • Accountability.
  • Moral Courage.

Importance of a good citizen:

Being a good citizen is very important. A good citizen is normally the type of person who works hard, helps others and respects the law. When reading newspapers or listening to the radio or watching TV, often it is the activities of bad citizens that are publicised.
