What is fearing God? How to shun evil?

“Fearing God” is not inexplicable fright and dread, avoidance, estrangement, admiration, or blind faith, but adoration, veneration, trust, understanding, care, obedience, dedication, love, and unconditional and complaintless worship, repayment, and submission. If one does not have a true knowledge of God, he will not have a true adoration, a true trust, a true understanding, or a true care and obedience, but only terror and uneasiness, and only doubt, misunderstanding, avoidance, and estrangement; if one does not have a true knowledge of God, he will not have a true dedication and repayment; if one does not have a true knowledge of God, he will not have a true worship and submission but only a blind admiration and a blind belief; if one does not have a true knowledge of God, he cannot possibly walk in God’s ways, fear God, or shun evil. On the contrary, all the activities and doings he engages in are full of his disobedience and resistance against God, full of his slanders and judgments against God, and full of his evil deeds of going against the truth and against the true meaning of God’s word.”
