Day 34/35: City and Good Friday

Blah! I’m getting so tired and lazy about blogging!

I woke up earlyish because I wasn’t sure what the plan was for today. I got ready and once I got to my Aunt Hai’s house, we were off! Well, technically it was just my Uncle Hai and the cousins. My aunt was taking way too long so we left her! We’re just gonna meet her at the hospital. Once we got to my uncle’s workplace, we had coffee and breakfast again. This time around, I got a flat white and a bacon and egg roll. It was pretty yummy!

Once 11am hit, Dee and I headed to the hospital to see Aunt Sue. We brought her some congee and the thank you present for the nurses. We filled a basic full of easter bunnies and eggs for the nurses to thank them for taking care of Aunt Sue for the past 2 weeks. While we were waiting for Aunt Hai to come, Dee called her to see where she was. She told her she was on her way but Dee caught her in the act of lying because the house usually echoes. The lies! lol Eventually, Dee went to the city and my aunts were talking. Basically, they were talking about how they wish my sister was here and that she’s getting married too young.

Aunt Hai and I then spent the day exploring the City. Basically, the City is “downtown” or the “central business district”. We grabbed some spicy udon noodles and explored the shops for some outfits.

We talked about my aunts and dad and when everyone came to Australia. Basically some facts and answers I never got before. Anywho! We had some frozen mango slush at Hungry Jacks (or Burger King) and then explored and shopped some more. We then met up with Dee and went to go buy some finger food for her party on Sunday. We went to go find some flower crowns for my sister’s wedding but nothing :(. The three of us also went to this dessert bar call Koi Dessert Bar. Apparently, the winner of Master Chef is the owner and he happened to be working! We didn’t meet him but we were gonna come back there for dessert (but we didn’t!). We then headed to the dim sim place to buy food. As we waited, my aunt was bragging about me to her cousin. Finally, a moment of glory lol!

As for dinner, we kept walking in a circle and basically ended up back where we were at the Sussex center to have dinner. Before that, we walked around Darling Harbour and saw many things I saw 6 years ago like the water blocks and boats. I also saw the Sydney PWC building! How exciting! Seeing that basically fueled my aunt’s desire to come work in Australia. For dinner, I went with the roast duck. It was pretty good but it got super sweet and salty near the end because of the sauce.

On the ride back home, my aunt was just talking about how funny it was the my Aunt Sue kept saying she was too young to get married but she got married around the same age! We were laughing because now I’m second choice (which kinda hurts when you think about it) because she’s not gonna come to live with her. Annd! The room I’m staying in is technically called her room and the bed is new (well, not now that I’m in it!). Lol, it’s kinda funny because since my sister is not coming, the “burden” has now been bestowed upon me to come. Another chance at glory!

We got home really late so my Aunt Hai didn’t go to the nursing home even though she had his food ready. I hope he’s okay for the night and that he ate. And I hope she goes in early (since I’m hanging out with my Aunt and Uncle Sue). The problem with the nursing home is that if he’s asleep, they won’t wake him up to eat. Ugh! That’s just…ugh. Anywho…

Gotta go!

Bye y’all!

Today is Good Friday (and also Lou’s 19th birthday), which means everything is closed! Except for the Vietnamese area in Bankstown! Oh Asian people. My Uncle Sue came home a little later than usual. He then got ready so that we can head down to the area to buy food and it. We also got to FaceTime with his favorite niece (everyone in the family knows this!) and my mom.

And we were off! I was getting slightly cranky because I needed food! We roamed around trying to find some food for Aunt Sue but they were sold out. We ended up eating at Pho An (again for me…3 times!). I got the pho dac biet but I just can’t find it great anymore. It was sooo busy! And we saw the owner again. Back in the day, my grandfather kind sorta helped the owner in his business (don’t ask me how) but he became successful and when my grandfather came to eat, he would never take his money (unfortunately, we still do lol).

Afterwards, my cousin Tone and I headed to Cafe Nho while my uncle went to go get a haircut. I had the ambarella drink and my cousin had coffee and mixed fruit shaved ice with durian. I also asked him about the girl that his mom is trying to set him up with (but I got nothing!). He did show me a picture and she looks nice and cute. I’m not gonna lie, he’s a little superficial..smh.

We picked up some food and fruits and headed to the hospital to visit aunt sue. She is getting so much better! She’s walking with her cane and they’re gonna help her learn to walk on stairs. She’s gonna hopefully be able to come home on Tuesday! For dinner, she had com thit (rice and beef) with some fish sauce lol. Fish sauce is not something you should bring into the hospital but she hates the hospital food now. For dessert, she ate some longan fruits. Some visitors came to visit her. They were talking about the accident and they also talked about my sister and how she’s getting married. And then my Aunt and Uncle Sue basically planned out my coming to Australia lol. It’s funny because I was commenting to my cousin that “yay! I’m second choice” sarcastically, and he was just like “at least you’re not last choice. They want a girl!”, which he is and he knows it lol. The visitor then asked me if that was my plan to come and I was like that’s their plan lol. We’ll have to see because living here would be fun.

Also! The girl that my aunt is trying to set up with Tone! They are talking which I’m sure. She’s doing an assignment on teaching and technology and my cousin basically volunteered me so now she’s going to “interview” me by sending questions that I need to record. This was basically almost my Master’s Project! Hopefully I can find more about her ;). I think this one will stick around!

For dinner, I basically had crab. It took me forever because Tone was suppose to help me! I also took a picture (because my uncle likes to say take a picture to show my sister…). I was suppose to go over and hang out with Dee and eat some cheese that we got at the show but I got sucked into watching some kungfu drama and I needed to finish it! By that time, it was too late lol. Buuuut! We’re gonna cook and eat cheese tomorrow! With that said…

Bye y’all!
