Day 36/37: Party!

I finally got to eat the cheese!

Dee and I had been waiting to eat the darn cheese we got at the easter show but things kept putting it back for us, but this time, we got to eat it! So much satisfaction! We settled for the spicy herby cheese. It was soooo good with the roasted garlic bagel chips. We ended up eating the entire thing for breakfast! I was also able to Facetime the kids and family and had a hot cross bun. I never eat these in America.

Afterwards, we went shopping for supplies for Dee’s birthday party tomorrow. It’s so nice that there are three different grocery stores and you can go and compare prices before actually buying. Dee and I got in trouble a little because we wandered off to buy things…oops! We went to get some alcohol and I bought it for her. I was trying to figure out what Lou wanted since his birthday was Friday but I wasn’t too sure. Maybe another day?

Lunch, chicken rolls, and ginger beer

We started prepping all of the food. There’s going to be some chicken sausage rolls, chicken skewers, beef skewers, dim sims, egg rolls, and pavlova for dessert. Dee usually makes this for special family events. Anywho, we prepped some of the food and Dee made the first batch of pavlova. While my aunt visited my grandfather, Dee and I hung out upstairs while the pavlova cooked so that I can do the interview for my cousin’s “friend”. She had invited us out for breakfast tomorrow as a treat for helping her! We looked at old family photos and some of my great aunt when she was younger and our parents. Then I recorded the interview. It was so good and lots of information. When I went to go stop it, it turns out that I never pressed it! It only got the part where I did my name :(. Awful!

I gave up for the moment and we continue prepping the food. I had some awesome ginger beer and lunch. Dee and I also decided to “test” some of the alcohol to make sure that the combinations of drinks tasted good. Good thing we did because some of the combinations weren’t great! I opened the sparkling wine bottle outside and the cork flew into the pool. We had to use the net to fish it out lol. We then helped put some meat on sticks and then had pizza (from domino’s) and pasta salad for dinner.

Testing alcohol, Love this view, and PIZZA!

I re-recorded my interview and sent it off! Now I’m just watching some videos to fall asleep for tomorrow’s outing with my cousin and his “friend”.

Bye y’all!

Today is the day!

So around 2ish am, I heard some noise and was confused because I heard my uncle and cousin on the phone. I thought I was imagining things so I went to bed. Well, apparently, my uncle sue accidentally locked his keys into his bedroom and they had to call a locksmith to get it then because my uncle had work (he works at a bakery). While waiting, Tone mentioned that he should probably get a spare key because that had happened before. That’s when Uncle Sue remembered that they had a spare key! They tried canceling but the guy was already on the way. Basically, they got charged $150 AUD for him to say hi to the guy :(. The guy had mentioned it would be cheaper if they came at 9am but my uncle had work…I think he’s gonna be careful next time. And now I know it wasn’t a dream!

Tone and I left to go to the city to meet Channy. My cousin uses his phone for directions and texts sometimes! I had to yell at him to let me do it..smh. I had just asked him if the place in the city was open since it was Easter Sunday when Channy texted and said it wasn’t. So we headed to Newtown instead. My grandfather used to live in an apartment in Newtown. Newtown is a very hipster place now, a lot more than it was 20 years ago. While driving, there was a checkpoint and unfortunately my cousin was the chosen one lol. He had to do a breathalyzer test.

Once we got there, I met Channy. We did an awkward “Are we gonna hug?” “Are we shaking hands?” dance before shaking hands. The purpose of this was for her to “thank” me for helping but I was happy to do it…BUT!..this gave me an opportunity to spy and take pictures and videos for the family hehehe. I’m that creepy cousin lol. We talked a little and during the awkward quiet moments, they would just both look at me…it was super weird! Channy and I also bonded over smack talking my cousin and his daily ritual of drinking 6 eggs in the morning and tuna at night. It’s so gross!!! When she left to validate her car, my cousin paid (because it’s the gentlemanly thing to do). I had the chorizo and chili omelette. I had originally thought it was a bowl of chili not chilis! It was really good though. For dessert we had cronuts! I thought we were sharing one or two but then they looked at me after ordering and I went with the salted caramel cronut.

It was really good! My cousin gave me have of his and I was trying to give him half of mine but he didn’t want it! Ugh! Then, while he was eating, he mentioned that Channy and I didn’t finish one. So I had to point out I had half of mine and his so he had to eat part of mine! While he was looking at more cronuts to bring to my aunt and uncle, she gave me a T2 bag with some tea and a chocolate bunny! That was so sweet! She had mentioned about a tea festival (which I’ll miss unfortunately) that happens in Sydney and mentioned the flavor profile (Green Rose) to make sure I liked it! So sweet! I think it was more of a thank you. While waiting for cronuts upstairs, she mentioned she asked her international peeps but no one. So when my cousin mentioned me, she thought he was joking! But he wasn’t!

Tone dropped me off at Dee’s and I helped set out the food. I met some friends and chatted a little but it was kinda awkward for me. Aunt Hai and I Facetimed the family and chatted about Tone’s potential mate and some pictures and videos I snuck in lol. I’m such a creep! I also sent stuff to my Aunt Sue so that she knew what was going on. I think Channy is much nicer and prettier than Tone’s past girlfriends.

I showed Lou some of my snapchats of the “date” and then sat on the couch. I should’ve brought my laptop to work on some things but I didn’t so I just watched videos instead. I didn’t mind since Dee should see her friends but I should’ve brought stuff. Then I took some pictures because my aunt wanted me too and we had pavlova. It’s kinda like a meringue but lighter and tastier.

Food!, Pavlova, Dim Sims

I was in the back living room and then Dee and I basically watched youtube videos such as Jimmy Fallon, Conan, and Ellen. We had leftovers for dinner and then I headed back home.

Now I’m kinda exhausted and just want to go to bed and not blog anymore soooooooo

bye y’all!
