Recipe for disaster

No-one seems to be talking about BBCi Wonder currently…It’s popular, fun, informative, accessible, educational but being culled outright.

Three years+ in the planning, barely two years up and running. Now dead in the water just as it begins to gain momentum and bring in traffic.

iWonder closure: “Redeploying its formats across BBC Online”

If the BBC isn’t meant to be creating this content then why is the format being redeployed? It doesn’t make any sense…

Meanwhile the entire iWonder team & all the expertise and knowledge gathered over the last few years will cease to exist, to be reinvented in a year or two as something else.

On the face of it, iWonder does exactly what the BBC wants going forwards — informs, educates & entertain and doesn’t compete with commercial interests.

BBC Food is grabbing the headlines but it will live on through BBC Worldwide’s Good Food website. I agree it seems daft to mothball existing archive content!
