True, and proposing progressive enhancement is definitely a good thing.
But they’re also saying “Today, as long as you’re not blocking Googlebot from crawling your JavaScript or CSS files, we are generally able to render and understand your web pages like modern browsers.”.
From what I’ve read here and there e.g. angular.js sites seem to be indexed well (as always, for SEO some things have to be done) — unfortunately I don’t own a public SPA site to check in webmaster tools how google sees it.
It’s not that I’d build a new public site with an SPA, but the situation regarding SEO issues has changed (no more server side prerendering) — therefore IMHO the SPA debate should not attach too much value to them.
