Band’s New, Awaited Album Follows Award-Winning Album

Many fans (such as myself) rejoiced on July 11th when, after a year of silence, Twenty One Pilots released 2 new songs from their very upcoming album Trench. I say “very upcoming” because the album will be available this Friday, October 5th, and the hype has certainly generated. I’ve listened to their now-released 4 new songs hundreds of times (when the first 2 came out, I probably only listened to those 2 songs for a couple of days with no shame). I know that I and other super-fans have hardly stopped thinking about what Trench will be, but what’s even better is that almost everyone is curious for what’s next. But, why? What makes Twenty One Pilots’s Trench special?

They gave themselves quite the act to follow. The band’s previous album Blurryface (their fourth album) broke a significant record in becoming the first album in history to have every track be certified by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). The author of this Forbes article, Hugh McIntyre, explains:
