Is Newt Scamander the father of Rubeus Hagrid?

This struck me this morning — do we know Hagrid’s father’s name? I think it’s Newt Scamander.

There are so many parallels between Newt and Hagrid, specifically their love for magical creatures and their expulsion from Hogwarts for basically the same reason: “endangering human life.”

It seems reasonable that Newt would fall in love with a Giantess / another magical species. It would also be a great story for the coming “Fantastic Beasts” movies… We assume Newt was expelled for having some kind of dangerous creature at Hogwarts, but what if he had even endangered human life by trying to keep his Giantess girlfriend hidden in the Forbidden Forest?

“Fantastic Beasts” is set in 1926, and next movie is supposed to be set a few years later. Perhaps we’ll be introduced to Fridwulfa and experience Newt’s love story, just before Hagrid is born in 1928. Or maybe it’s when Hagrid is about 3, and she has just returned to her Giant colony.

The theory falls apart a little when we recall that Hagrid’s father died in 1940, during Hagrid’s second year at Hogwarts (and the year before he was expelled). J.K. Rowling has said that the next four “Fantastic Beasts” movies will take place over the 19 years following 1926, and it will end in 1945.

But what if Aragog, Hagrid’s pet acromantula, was a gift from his father, just before he died in 1940? What if the final “Fantastic Beasts” movie, which will certainly focus on Dumbeldore and Grindelwald’s duel and the end of the Global Wizarding War, also reveals the beginnings of how a young Hagrid and young Voldemort/Tom Riddle are involved? That also sounds like a good setup for another film franchise covering Voldemort’s rise to power.
